typical casey

Born and raised in NJ, I'm a 2015 graduate of Washington University in St. Louis where I received a BFA in Communication Design and an accidental second major in Art History. While my personality definitely fit the midwest vibes of WashU, there was no question that I would be coming home to NYC as soon as my diploma was in hand.

Since graduation I’ve brought my creative thinking over to the media side working on the agency teams of IBM and J.P. Morgan Asset Management among others. I was most recently a Media Strategist at Cycle, an influencer marketing agency based out of DUMBO, where I was planning, pitching, and executing a variety of social media campaigns. As of June 2020 I’m a Senior Media Analyst (Social) at Decoded Advertising, working across four SC Johnson accounts: Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day, Caldrea, Bug Botanist, and Method Men!

things i care a lot about

I’ve been involved with Relay For Life and the American Cancer Society for over 12 years now, and helped organize and run my college’s event for two out of the four years I was on campus. Beyond losing both of my dad’s parents to various forms of cancer before I turned 13, about 1 in 3 people will be diagnosed with some kind of cancer over the course of their lifetimes. This disease does not discriminate and building a world with more birthdays is something everyone should take part in. The ACS also funds a number of truly incredible initiatives beyond research, including 24/7 help hotlines and Mission Lodges where patients and families can stay for free during treatment.

Enhanced by my membership in Delta Gamma, I am passionate about creating and funding resources for the blind and visually impaired. When I was in 9th grade I randomly developed double vision as a result of a lazy eye, and spent 2 years unable to see clearly before finally getting corrective surgery. This experience opened my eyes to the bare minimum of things a visually impaired person deals with on a daily basis and I’m grateful that my sisterhood has helped me advocate for ways to work for this cause. Over the past 9 years I’ve raised money, participated in walks, volunteered with various organizations, and even got to be a backstage puppy handler for a Today show segment.

My personal experiences with anxiety have shaped my passion for mental health advocacy. The divide between how society treats mental health compared to physical health helps create the ida of "acceptable” vs. “unacceptable” illnesses. Just because you cannot see my anxiety under a microscope does not mean that it is any less real than the time I broke my wrist. We need to continue to push for healthcare plans to cover mental health providers (i.e psychiatrist, therapists) as well as a larger understanding how how mental illnesses present and can be managed effectively.
